What changed
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5 on 30 June 2026, describing it as built to be its most agentic Sonnet model, able to make plans, use tools such as browsers and terminals, and run autonomously. Introductory pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through 31 August 2026, after which it moves to $3 and $15.
Why you should care
Agent workloads are billed per step, so a cheaper model that holds up across long runs changes what you can afford to build, and the introductory window closes in a month.
