The claim under check: that AI is already destroying entry-level software jobs. Anthropic's own research, published 5 March 2026, introduces an observed-exposure measure and reports no systematic increase in unemployment among highly exposed workers since late 2022, alongside tentative evidence that hiring of 22 to 25 year olds in exposed occupations has slowed by roughly 14 percent.
Why you should care
Slower hiring at the entry level is real, it is not the same as jobs disappearing, and the difference decides whether you plan or panic.
